Here’s a trend. . . . this was meant to be posted in October. On the 5th says the editor. But here we are in April and it is a never ending Wintery Wonderland. Was -25 on a few mornings last week. And here, without further delay, is Kiyoshi’s long delayed October post.
————————————-
It’s a beautiful autumn day here in Cowtown as September fades into October. Sunny and a crisp 9° C. The leaves are turning yellow and the bunnies are still brown.
And there’s probably not a lot of places where you can be sunny and 9° with a Winter Storm Warning in effect.
Of watches and warnings.
When environment Canada issues a “Watch” it means the conditions are right for us to be aware and be ready.
When it changes to a warning it means whatever it is, it’s coming. Check the radar map and see how badly it will affect you.
On Friday (September 29th) it was a blazing hot day. 24° is what it read on the dashboard but in the sun it was hot. We had seen the long term forecast and there was a possibility of snow coming next week.
So Kiyoshi got picked up early after school (half day school on Friday) and we went for a drive to Nose Hill Park. With all the colours of clusters of trees and shrubs and grassy hills, Nose Hill Park is beautiful at this time of year. We went to this spot in 2015 after we got home from Scotland.
It ended up being a short hike, Kiyoshi was hot and I had forgotten he had ran across Canada for the Terry Fox Run earlier in the morning. So it was a short walk through the forests and a few stops to pet some friendly dogs along the way.
I told Kiyoshi that the park will not look so beautiful and colorful after it snows on us. We got a few pictures and we were off.
What a difference a couple days makes . . . .
The weekend quickly faded away into . . . icy snow that quickly froze and brought the city to a halt. As tends to happen around here.
