A Tale of Two Teeth

It was long overdue, all of his friends have lost a tooth or some teeth along the way, and he keeps wondering when he is going to lose one of his own.  Oh the waiting.  Then one day the princess said to the dragon, . . . oh, wait I’m in the wrong story. . .  and then suddenly there it was.  A wiggler!!

Turns out there were two actually, his front bottom teeth.  I asked him to open his mouth a few times to see if I could pull one out, he wasn’t fond of that idea.  So patiently we waited, and waited, and waited.  One of them was so wiggly it wasn’t even held on to anything any more.

And I’m weeks overdue with sharing this.  Partly because I blew up 24/7 Kiyo and partly because I took the pics with my camera and had also crashed my connection to my network photo drive somehow. . . . I can’t blame that part on beta although I did download a developer preview of Windows 10 at some point too. . .

Well I have to say his first tooth made for quite a story.  I am going to paste the email I sent to the school, it was something we needed to thank the teachers for.

And now that he had one out, and he says he was eating a cracker and it fell out and he had to catch it.  We went to bed that night so he could tuck me in, and he wanted to chew on ice because he likes to do that.  After I briefly fell asleep Kiyoshi is all excited “It came out!!!” so downstairs we went to show Mommy and take a few pics.

So there you go, the Tooth Fairy saved a bit that night, with a 2 for 1 tooth special. Which was good, because she only had 2 bucks.

And here’s the email to the school. I couldn’t figure out the information and privacy act application forms for release of personally identifiable information so the names have been redacted.

The case of the lost and lost again tooth.

Many thanks to the staff at Buffalo Rubbing Stone for giving Kiyoshi a tooth holder as he lost his first baby tooth today. And then lost it again as it turned out … (Insert sad face here).

I picked up Kiyoshi early today as he had a Dr. appointment. He came to show me his tooth only to find that it was not in the tooth holder. It was an almost moment of tears but he held it together and we headed back to the gym where he was sure it must have fell out of his tooth holder.

I apologize in advance for any names I might spell incorrectly!

We would like to extend a special thank you to his gym teacher Ms. xxxxxxx. Upon seeing Kiyoshi come back to the gym looking for his tooth, she stopped the whole class and asked them to use their “eagle eyes” to help Kiyoshi find it. She was sure it would be there too as Kiyoshi had showed it to her earlier. Though they were unsuccessful, she was sure she would find it after she swept the gym, and asked Kiyoshi if he would trust her to take care of it for him. Kiyoshi said yes and he gave her his tooth holder to keep it safe.

When we got back to Kiyoshi’s classroom, his friend xxxxxxx said to Kiyoshi that she saw it. She said it was white and it was red inside but she didn’t pick it up. She told us it was close to the middle of the gym.

Another friend xxxxxxx took Kiyoshi by the hand and off to the gym we went. His classroom teachers Mrs. xxxxxxx and Mrs. xxxxxxx were walking towards us and I said to them we are on a hunt for Kiyoshi’s tooth, he thinks it’s in the gym!

Well it didn’t take long for Kiyoshi, xxxxxxx and I to find his twice lost tooth. Sure enough it was near the middle of the gym. Thank you xxxxxxx for the vague yet strangely accurate directions.

We really want to thank all of the staff at BRS for their handling of a very special moment for Kiyoshi (he has been waiting for days! for that tooth to come out). From giving him the cute little tooth holder necklace to Ms. xxxxxxx for taking a disruption to her class and turning it into a challenge for all by involving the whole class to find Kiyoshi’s tooth and in the way she asked him to trust her to take care of it after she finds it sweeping the gym. Everyone was so calm, so patient and so helpful.

And to make a long story even longer, his second tooth fell out after dinner! The Tooth Fairy will have a busy night!
