You’d think that finding a host for a blog wouldn’t be so difficult. There’s so many choices and they are all pretty similar in their offering and jumping ship from one cPanel to another shouldn’t be embarking on a cosmic voyage across 1’s and 0’s but if I can find a way to complicate it believe me I will.
And not on purpose! More like can’t think past saving my nickels.
So there’s this “plugin” in WordPress that duplicates your site and allows you to move it to a new home. But I didn’t want to just move it I wanted to restructure the team and regroup the forwards and bring in some fresh new tools for the defense. I mean, why not change the world while you are traversing bits and bytes to get you to the new rink.
Well…. Kiyoshi’s sentences often start with Well… and you know that when he says it there was likely something offside that went with it.
In this case I didn’t want to spend the $59 to get the plugin that did all the work for me. It’s a database and a bunch of .php scripts how hard could it be. Besides, that’s US$59. I could totally do this.
And here we are 8 months later, I did manage to do the bulk of it with the Free! version of the plugin and at the end of the day, smile Karl, we’re back in business.
Now that I have less fear of losing our creative rambles and 24/7 Kiyo is safe again until I move it again …. I can get to work on finishing the many random thoughts that are sitting as drafts waiting to be shared.
